California prunes included in Valentine’s range
Chocolatier Paul A Young has included California prunes in a new ‘Casablanca’ themed product being released for this year’s Valentine’s Day.
The ‘Casablanca’ – inspired by the famous film released in the 1940s – is a Guittard 38% milk chocolate sphere that features California prune puree blended with Paul’s sea salted caramel and aromatic Ras el Hanout spices.
Commenting on the California prune inclusion, Esther Ritson-Elliott – California Prune Board’s European marketing director – comments: “With consumer trends dictating a move away from mass-market bars full of sugar and fat towards smaller quantities of a high quality product featuring premium ingredients, California prunes are ideally placed to represent a viable (backed by scientific evidence and a EU authorised health claim) inclusion. Of course, California prunes also deliver a wonderful flavour and appealing texture to this genre of superior quality fine chocolate, crafted using truly artisan skills.”
The new seasonal selection created by Paul A Young is comprised of ten different products, all of which are inspired by places, films and novels. The products are available from his stores in London and online.
