Interpack proves winning platform for Cama packaging machine
Italian packaging machinery business Cama is celebrating an accolade for its latest IF318 “pitch-less” monoblock platform for robotic forming and loading of cartons.
The company’s innovative new product, which has broad confectionery applications was shown at Interpack in Dusseldorf and gained the Rockwell Automation Best Future Machine Award 2017.
Cama’s development of a Digital Twin for the machine, together with a Pack ML compliant user interface incorporating both condition based maintenance and predictive maintenance capability, showed its vision of the how to implement Industry 4.0 concepts.
According to the company, the IF318 raised a lot of interest both from visitors and from other exhibitors impressed with the wealth of digital development incorporated on the machine.
Rockwell Automation and Microsoft also demonstrated virtual design on a Microsoft HoloLens headset. A mixed reality experience was created with Cama machine, to introduce the future virtual service and training on Cama lines.
Within the prestigious Rockwell contest, Cama rated highly in four categories out of five (modular machines, smart machines, sustainability and traceability & product safety), and also topped one (ease of use).
The Italian firm reported it had tripled the number of visits to its stand, compared to the last Interpack, as well as closing several major projects on stand and acquiring major new business.
